Theaters

Theaters are 21 continent-scale areas built from whole regions. They organize the military view and measure regional crisis tension, but they are geography only: brigades are not assigned to them and there are no theater settings to manage.

A theater is a named, fixed area of the world made from whole Regions. The map is divided in three levels: provinces make up regions, and regions make up theaters, each level partitioning the one below. Every land province belongs to exactly one theater, and every country sees the same theaters.

Theaters are geography only

Theaters exist to organize what you see, not to add another layer of command:

  • The The Map can select a theater, and the Theater view lists its regions.
  • The Military view's Land Forces tab groups your Brigades by the theater their province lies in, so a global army is easy to survey.
  • Each flashpoint belongs to the theater where most of its disputed provinces lie (otherwise the theater of the defender's capital), and the Flashpoints and Crises screen measures regional tension per theater.

Brigades are not assigned to theaters. Countries have no theater priorities, control settings or allocations to manage, and the AI plans its army for the country as a whole. You order your own brigades directly, and the AI never moves them for you.

The theaters of Atomic Dawn

The world is divided into 21 theaters. Most countries lie wholly within one; a few large ones are divided between two, such as Russia, whose European oblasts belong to Eastern Europe and whose lands from the Urals eastward form Siberia.
